Quick Tips
Here are a few important tips so your stay goes well:
The parking spaces are municipal MBJB just in front of the hotel. During the daytime, it is not free you have to pay for parking from 8 am to 6 pm (normally Friday is free in Johor however do check on the signage). You can either pay using physical “scratch coupons” that can be bought at 7-Eleven or easier download the app “MBJB Spot” or “JomParking” to pay digitally. If you did not pay most likely you will get a fine.
Security Deposit: The hotel will require a cash deposit at check-in, normally about RM 50. They generally do not accept credit cards for the deposit, so make sure you have some Malaysian Ringgit cash on hand when you arrive. You will get a receipt—keep it safe, as you need it to get your money back at checkout.
Room Upgrade Strategy: "Standard" rooms are mostly windowless or have very small internal windows. In case you are claustrophobic, or you are staying for more than one night, pay the small difference to book a "Deluxe" or "Family" room. The extra square footage makes a massive difference in comfort.
Water & Ironing: To minimize plastic waste, most budget hotels in JB have also caught on to the trend of placing a water dispenser (hot and cold) along the hallway instead of giving unlimited bottled waters. You can bring your own reusable bottle to fill it up. The iron and ironing board are also placed in a common area, hall way, not inside every single room.
Late Night Eats: In case you check in very late, there are 24 hours “Mamak” (Indian-Muslim) restaurants nearby serving Roti Canai and Teh Tarik at any hour of the day. This is one big advantage of the Permas Jaya location over more quietly residential areas.
